Tara's Sagittarius New Moon Forecast!

New Moon 

December 7, 2018

This year’s new Sagittarius Moon will take place the morning of Friday December 7th, at approximately 0220 hours. New Moons represent new beginnings, renewal, youth-like energy, and hope. 

New moons occur when the Moon meets the sun in a zodiac once per lunar cycle. The relationship between the luminaries is called a conjunction, which is the most powerful of all planetary aspects. With both of our light bearers in the mutable fire sign Sagittarius, it will express its energy through thought-provoking, adventurous, humorous, and truth-seeking activities.

At the time of the new Moon, the planets are all contained within 180 degrees of each other. This is called a bowl pattern. Bowl patterns contain the expression of energy between 6 to 7 signs; which leaves 180 degrees of the chart untenanted by any planets. Bowl patterns can make people look for balance, look for what they feel they are missing, and be stubborn. With this new Moon chart, most of the planets are below the horizon, which suggests the internalization of self-expression or self-containment.

The lead planet or cutting planet of the bowl is Venus. Venus will have extra work by leading the planets through their transits in the zodiac. The ascendant of the New Moon chart is Libra, which gives Venus rulership over the lunation chart. Being both the cutting planet and the chart ruler places heavy importance on how Venus functions and exchanges energy with the other planets.

Although out of retrograde, Venus is slow moving once again into Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio is in detriment. Venus in Scorpio will bring intensity and the need for loyalty in relationships. The last few months of Venus in retrograde had the majority of us either purposefully or inadvertently dealing with finding out about loyalty, betrayal, trust and the purpose of many questionable bonding relationships in our lives. We took an accounting of what we want, need, and aspire to have. Venus back in Scorpio is when we will apply the results of our internal processing and our personal needs.

Venus also finds herself in a wide opposition to Uranus, by degree not sign. Venus and Uranus act as “rims” to the proverbial planetary bowl across the axis of the 1st and 7th houses. Each of them is responsible for containing the planetary energy within the bowl. With Uranus in fiery Aries in the 7th house opposed to Venus in Scorpio in the 1st, we can expect some intense and exciting situations to occur involving our relationships with friends and lovers. Further proof of these sudden events being of great importance and karmic in nature would be that both Venus and Uranus are at the bendings of the Moon’s nodes, with Venus associated with the north node and Uranus associated with the south. We must pay attention to the lessons that Venus in retrograde taught us in order to move forward for our own karmic best interest.



The actual lunation itself will occur in the 3rd house which will shed light on: our communication, our siblings, our cousins, our coworkers, our social environment, short trips, our desires, our education, the changes we make for ourselves, and our mental acuity. The 3rd house is also the heaviest house in the chart. Gemini / Mercury are natural rulers of the 3rd house. Gemini is a mutable air sign that likes to communicate its information outward. Mercury ruled signs are very precise in the manner they give and receive information. In this new Moon chart Sagittarius is on the cusp if the 3rd house. Sagittarius also likes sharing information; however it does so in a much more blunt and humorous way which is not always well received. With this being said we would be wise to filter what comes out of our mouths before we speak our mind this holiday season; especially with our: coworkers, siblings, cousins and anyone we share our immediate environment with.

With the lunation in Sagittarius Jupiter will also play an important part in the chart. With Jupiter in Sagittarius, Jupiter is in dignity. This means that Jupiter will be firing on all cylinders. With Jupiter in the 2nd house he may bring an opportunity for financial gains and some good luck. Also occupying the 2nd house is Mercury. Having Mercury in the 2nd house usually lends itself to a strong head for finances. However with Mercury just out of retrograde on December 6th, it’s still considered to be in its retrograde storm, we may want to think twice about something before committing our money to it.

Another important aspect to this chart is the angles of the natural cardinal houses all have cardinal signs occupying them. This will add natural power to the cardinal houses which deal with: self, home, relationships and career. We may find that we are expressing the energy differently due to the changes in sign but there will be strength there to get our feelings and ideas moving.

Lastly, there will be a Mars / Neptune conjunction in Pisces in the 5th house square the new Moon. Having Mars conjunct Neptune can add passion to our personal dreams; unfortunately, it can also drive people to sudden extremes with a negative impact. With the conjunction occurring in the 5th house desires will probably focus on: childlike activities, the things you do for fun, children, creativity, love, performance art, and celebrations or activities with small groups of people. The square with the lunation can mean that your desires may not be easily accomplished and will take some adjusting.

Mars in the 5th house he may unintentionally spoil the party by taking things too far. Be very careful that in your effort to celebrate the holidays with cheer, you don’t take things too far doing something you can never take back emotionally, verbally, physically, and financially. Choose wisely!

Tara's Full Moon in Gemini Forecast!

Here in the nation’s capital shortly after midnight on Friday, November 23rd, 2018, we will experience a Full Moon, the midpoint of the Moon’s monthly cycle where it’s opposed to the Sun both by sign and degree. The opposition is the second strongest aspect between two planets. Oppositions exude energy from two locations within our charts; we need to find a way to balance the energy.

At the time of the full Moon the sign on the ascendant is Virgo, this gives the planet Mercury rulership over the lunation chart. Mercury governs our thoughts, how we communicate, our health, our daily routine, and travel. Mercury went retrograde on November 17th, which can cause disruptions with all Mercury-ruled aspects of day-to-day life.

While Mercury retrograde can be chaotic, it’s an excellent time to re-think, re-view, and re-do. It is not the ideal time to begin projects either personal or professional. If a project begins during Mercury retrograde, you can expect delays and miscommunication for the duration of the event.

Under normal circumstances Mercury behaves with precision and purposeful effect, but in Sagittarius Mercury considered to be in its detriment and struggles to perform effectively. In this sign, Mercury has far less precision and becomes more expansive and abstract in its energetic expression. Sagittarius is concerned with the truth of the matter, and while seeking is its forte, delivery of the message is not. Mercury in Sagittarius can be blunt and abrasive, and to reach the larger audience it loses the subtleties of intimate communication.

The full Moon is occurring across the 3rd and 9th houses. The 3rd house is traditionally ruled by Gemini / Mercury and focuses on: communication, learning, thinking, our intelligence gathering, local travel, our immediate environment, and our siblings. The 9th house is traditionally ruled by Sagittarius / Jupiter and focuses on the expansion of the higher mind, higher education, theology, our ethics, the higher courts, publishing, our in laws, and our grandchildren.

During the full Moon the Sun will be located at 0 Sagittarius in the 3rd house and the moon will be at 0 degrees Gemini in the 9th house. Zero degree points carry the full force of the sign. Any planet located between zero and 1 degree of any sign, by natural position, inherits the most potent energy the sign offers. With both luminaries occupying zero degrees of their perspective signs, we know that the Sun will exhibit powerful Sagittarian energy and the Moon will exhibit strong Gemini energy.

At the time of the lunation the Sun is also conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius. Jupiter loves to be in its home sign of Sagittarius and it wants nothing more than to broaden our experiences and mindset. Sagittarius is the sign of the centaur and more so than any other zodiac sign, it enjoys its two things: a good party and freedom. With the Sun conjunct Jupiter in the 3rd house, we can expect our thoughts, our immediate environment, and information to shift and change often. We can also expect our social calendar and obligations to increase. More than likely travel is on your agenda and you will be busier than normal.

The Moon in Gemini will sit high in the 9th house at zero Gemini. The Moon is the most elevated planet of the event chart, a position of prestige as the closest planet to the Midheaven. This ties the most elevated planet to your public reputation. The Midheaven is also Gemini, which connects the energy of both the Moon and Midheaven by sign. With the moon being at 0 Gemini, it will exude its chatty nature with lots of conversation. However, Gemini usually enjoys playing to a smaller audience; this time, she is on display in the 9th house for the entire world to see. With the Moon opposed the Sun’s conjunction to Jupiter in Sagittarius, over sharing is incredibly likely.

The moral of this Thanksgiving story is although we are going to feel the pressure to remain busy and visit people. If you feel yourself getting ready to blow your top, it’s best to walk away and find a quiet place where you can collect your thoughts and remember what your personal truth is.

Tara's October 2018 New Moon Forecast!

Greetings Sky Watchers,

Welcome back for some more astrology talk. On Monday October 8th ,at approximately 1146 pm, here in the nation’s capital, we experienced a new Moon. As we have discussed in the past a new Moon is the time in a lunar month when the Moon and the Sun share the same sign and degree—an exact conjunction—at 15 degrees Libra.

The lunation will occur in the 4th house; however,  it's an intercepted 4th house. Cancer is on the Ascendant and the chart signature is Cancer as well. The Moon rules Cancer, which gives the Moon rulership over the lunation chart as well as the overall expression of the lunation.

With such a strong emphasis on the sign Cancer, regardless of what sign the Moon actually resides at the time of the lunation, we can expect a focus on Moon-based topics. This is especially true as the lunation will be occurring in the Moon’s native home, the 4th house. We can expect the focus to be on our emotions, families, cultural roots, homes, the land we live on, and women in general.

The intercepted 4th house adds another layer of complexity to this lunation. Intercepted houses are like rooms without windows; locked between two other signs, the only way in is through another door. The intercepted sign has a hard time expressing itself. Its energy is harder to tap into. With the lunation occurring in Libra both the sun and Moon will be trying to express the energy of Libra: partnerships, equality, relationships, and sharing.

The sun in Libra is in its fall, which means that the sun does not function well in his position. The interception will increase the sun’s struggle in Libra. The solar and lunar contact will draw focus on the emotional component, as the Moon is experiencing a coming home in the 4th house. The Moon’s boost being in its home house will bring the focus on our emotional desires and responses to stimulus; especially those things within the boundary of our home environment.

Virgo is on the cusp of the 4th house. This will increase the desire to self-analyze and possibly speak about. Scorpio will finish out the 4th house and the sign asks us to let go of what no longer serves our goals and build bonds with those who can help us get where we need to be.

Currently, we have Venus in retrograde in Scorpio. Venus rules our idea of relationships, finances, and women. In retrograde, Venus nudges us to re-think, re-assess, re-visit, re-do and re-evaluate our current connections to other people and to our finances. 

This is not the time to begin new relationships, new businesses, or anything involving long term emotional or financial attachments. Don’t be surprised if old flames come calling, forcing you to reconsider if they are something you want to revisit. 

With all of that said, proceed with caution; relationships during Venus retrograde may only be based on physical need and NOT the emotional component required for long term healthy relationships.

Venus in Scorpio can also deceive, so there may be more going on than meets the eye. People may be more driven by their own desires and not the truth, manipulating facts to suit their needs and degrade your ability to remain abreast of the situation, a very Scorpio technique. With Scorpio ruling the reproduction and the genitals be careful that during this time you are being mindful to protect yourself against STDs!

Venus retrograde in Scorpio makes an applying square—90-degree angle where the faster planet will overtake the slower one—to Mars in Aquarius. Squares cause challenges between planets, and as these are both personal planets the stakes are high. Venus Mars squares exemplify the classic battle of masculine vs feminine, passion vs self-control, and desire vs feelings. However, it should be noted that with Venus in Scorpio, Venus won’t behave as her normal gentle self; she’s much more aggressive and intense and may cause arguments and other strife.

Finally, there is a Mercury-Uranus opposition during the lunation. Mercury is the planet of thought, messages, learning, and travel. Uranus is the planet of sudden shock and revolution. So It’s especially important for all of us to pay attention to the details of life. 

The coming week or so is going to feel like an energy vortex and everything is going to run at a hectic pace. Be open to new and shocking information that may come your way about people you may know or may be close to, and keep your wits about you. Try to go with the flow whenever possible and stay focused on your own needs. Allowing yourself to become caught up in the web of the social spiral may cause you more harm than good.

Full Harvest Moon

Many people have been commenting on all of the cosmic energy floating around lately and wondering why it feels like why there is something off. There has been a lot going on cosmically, so let’s take a look.

On Tuesday, September 11th, Mars entered Aquarius, squaring both Uranus in Taurus and Venus in Scorpio and creating what astrologers call a T-square. With Venus in detriment in the sign Scorpio, we get to see the darker side of the celestial Goddess as she brings forth her obsessive, possessive, and inquisitive side. She is far less trusting or loving as she probes for evidence of reciprocal and equal affection. With Venus opposing Uranus in Taurus, she’ll get an energy boost from the comforts of her Taurean home; however, since oppositions require balance to navigate effectively, erratic and unpredictable Uranus will not calm an insecure Venus.

With Mars in Aquarius squaring both Venus and Uranus, Mars becomes the apex point of the T-square, pulled in both directions. Mars ambition and drive is caught in a tug-of-war between Venusian obsession and Uranian freedom leading to a power struggle. Venus square Mars is your classic head-on challenge that requires some effort to wrangle. Mars square Uranus is like a bolt of energy urging you to take risks and shove aside old patterns. Don’t be surprised if people in general, especially women, are a little more feisty than normal. This is a time for evaluation and decisions; also how the energy is expressed may be far more intense than usual.

This T-square occurs in fixed signs, which can cause people to dig in their heels. Uranus in retrograde will turn the Taurus energy inward, causing an internal processing of what we desire to tolerate. Mars feels the pinch from Venus and Uranus and the God of War will push back. Fixed T-Squares are not ideal for the beginnings of new relationships, and it may be a testy time for existing ties.

The key to finding balance through T-square tension is the point opposed to the apex, in this case, Mars. The point opposite Mars in Aquarius is 3 Leo, conjunct the North Node of karmic implications and our future direction. Leo is the sign of fun, socializing, children and romance, and is driven by self-gratification. The lesson in this T-square is if it doesn’t feel good or right don’t do it, no matter who is asking. Just like the king of beasts take a little time to relax and indulge in what you love and draw pleasure from that.

Lastly, both luminaries are squaring the greater malefic, Saturn, which forms the apex of a second T-square. At the time of the full Moon Saturn is dignified in Capricorn but in the 7th house of partnerships. Saturn brings lessons and responsibility, and if we are successful with the lesson Saturn also brings success. Having a Saturn apex point of the T-square can bring feelings of burden driven by the hope of success. Anyone STRESSED yet?

With T-Squares there is a missing component to completing what would be the grand cross. To find the way out of the T-square stress, we look to the position opposite the apex point. This sensitive point represents what we lack and should focus on to create the balance of four. Four is a building number and provides balance and stability. For this chart, the point is located in Cancer in the first house.

The Moon rules Cancer, and the 1st house represents the self. This indicates that it is important for us to focus on our emotional wants and needs while maintaining the balance of the weight of our responsibilities vs our social desires. Cancer reminds us that it’s time to focus on what breathes life into your soul, as we learn to balance wants, needs, desires and responsibilities accordingly. We must let some things go to plant the seeds for our personal growth tomorrow.

Tara's Pisces Full Moon Forecast

Greetings Sky Watchers,

Finally, the first lunation in 8 long weeks that isn’t an eclipse! I can almost hear a collective sigh of relief from those of us who understand the power of eclipses. Regretfully much of this summer’s eclipse and retrograde planet’s energy is still in the mix; Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, and Saturn are still retrograde, their energy turned inward. Many of us will be internalizing our situations in life and rethinking our strategy.

At the time of the full moon, the sign Virgo is on the ascendant, which gives Mercury rulership of the chart. Mercury is no longer retrograde; however, it’s not yet back to full strength either, which means communication can still be foggy and problematic.

The first thing to notice here is that each of the 4 angles has shifted from cardinal to mutable signs. Immediately we see a potential for a decrease in the energy to start projects and an overall indecisiveness. People will weigh out their options and change their minds, possibly several times, and not necessarily for the better. Mercury in Leo tells us that standing firm in our choices and not wavering can be a good choice, especially if for a beneficial reason.

Next, the natural opposition of the Virgo/Pisces axis is flipped. This full Moon is at 3 Pisces, which traditionally rules the 12th house, but in this case both the sign Pisces and the moon will be in the 6th house, naturally ruled by analytical Virgo / Mercury. Likewise, the Sun at 3 Virgo will be in the 12th house naturally ruled by intuitive and compassionate Pisces / Neptune.

Virgo naturally rules the 6th house of daily tasks, our jobs, our health, our employment, and our coworkers. Virgo represents all things that require our close attention, cerebral processing and attention to detail, which is why Mercury rules Virgo. When the Sun is in Virgo it increases the feeling that it’s time to get organized, get focused, and get down to business. During this full moon, the Sun will be in Virgo but within the 12th house naturally ruled by Pisces / Neptune.

So here we have the dichotomy of two opposite signs (Pisces/Virgo), in naturally opposed houses (6th/12th), during a full moon, bringing focus to our self / Sun and our emotions / Moon. The key word is BALANCE! The difficult part is figuring out how to find it. This is where we really use the chart and planetary aspects to see how we can find our balance.

The showstopper of this chart is the kite pattern, which can indicate fated events. A kite occurs when a grand trine is present and a single planet opposes one of the planets. One of the planets in the opposition is also sextile to the 2 other planets of the grand trine. Both grand trines and sextiles are considered benevolent patterns that bring ease and harmony. The opposition within the kite creates a bow and arrow effect, which focuses the pattern’s energy to one focal point.

In this full moon chart, we have a grand trine is earth signs: Sun in Virgo in the 12th House, Saturn in Capricorn in the 4th House, and Uranus in Taurus in the 8th House. The theme of a grand earth trine is one of hard work and stability. However, the houses are naturally ruled by water signs--12th house by Pisces, 4th house by Cancer and the 8th house by Scorpio. Water houses will always have a water or emotional and spiritual effect so we must try to remain grounded while meeting our emotional needs.

The full moon creates the spine of the kite and the arrow of our bow. The moon in Pisces is the point of action, where we draw back the bow and the Sun is the focal point. With the Pisces moon in the 6th house, it is very likely that people’s emotions and even addictions may get the best of them, especially while trying to find a coping mechanism to deal with the stress and pressure of day to day tasks.

With the Sun as our focal point deep in the 12th house of recovery and secrets, it’s time for us to get honest with ourselves. To me, this indicates a karmic stop sign: You can’t lie to yourself any longer or outrun fate. Have you been neglecting yourself for others? Have you been putting your responsibilities over your emotional and physical health? Have you allowed your emotional attachment to work or your to-do list override your body and soul’s need for rest?

With the mutable signs on the angles it will be easier now for all of us to talk ourselves out of purposeful self-care and recovery. I encourage you to make yourself a priority for all the most beneficial reasons possible. Remember that we cannot pour from an empty cup! Self-love goes a long way to creating balance.

Greeting Sky Watchers,

We are back for the third and final eclipse of summer 2018. This eclipse is the third eclipse in 4 weeks. There are also a total of 5 planets currently in retrograde; two of these, Mercury and Mars, are personal planets, so there is an abundance of cosmic energy floating around. The one thing for certain is that eclipses trigger changes, and retrograde planets will turn the energy within.

Before moving on to what’s in store, let’s review some solar eclipse basics. Solar eclipses like this one are conjunctions of the Sun and Moon, which is the strongest aspect between two planets. Solar eclipses occur at new Moons and add extra energy to the cosmic event. Whenever the nodes of the Moon are close to a lunation; either new or full, there will be an eclipse. The extra energy of the eclipse act as a gateway of energy directed towards planet earth and beyond. Many people believe that these increases in energy also prompt natural events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.

Leo will be on the horizon in this eclipse chart, so the Sun is our chart ruler. The eclipse occurs at dawn with the Sun and Moon at 18 Leo. The Sun and Moon are joined with mental Mercury in Leo, forming a stellium by both degree and sign. A stellium creates an abundance of energy in one location of any chart, no matter the sign or house. Having a stellium involving the chart ruler at the ascendant, during a solar eclipse, at Sunrise, is an energy explosion!

In the 1st house, Mercury is oriental to the Sun and Moon at 14 Leo, meaning that Mercury will pass over the horizon before the Sun. Mercury is also conjunct 15 Leo, also known as The Lion’s gate, one of the 4 avatar points in every chart.

Avatar points are the anchors of the zodiac; they occur at 15 degrees of each fixed sign and form the exact mid-point between eclipses and equinoxes. Many astrologers refer to the 15th degrees of each fixed sign as “points of fame” or markers of something for which the world will stop and take note.

With Mercury oriental to the Sun, in Leo, in retrograde, and conjunct the solar eclipse, we can expect an abundance of bold communication. Mercury in Leo loves an audience and the attention it brings, and speaks with passion. During a solar eclipse, our emotions (the Moon) cast their shadow on who we are (the Sun). So don’t be a bit surprised if someone’s dramatic Leo overly emotional responses spill over, demanding your full attention.

Leo represents abundance, children, fun activities like hobbies and sports, romance, the theater, and small groups. With so much Leo energy in this chart, most people will have the urge to splurge and have some self-indulgent FUN. Don’t be surprised if an old flame returns; with the oriental Mercury retrograde, this would be the ideal time to determine if the relationship is serving you or not.

One downside to Leo energy is the pouting and sulking when the Lion doesn’t get their way. As with all things, proceed with caution and optimism, but don’t get caught up in the theatrical, ego-driven response of the Lion wanting more than what he/she can have. So roar all you want; you will make a statement for sure, but think about the long-term impact. Ask yourself if this is really how you want to be remembered.

We also see that the new Moon stellium in the 1st house is the focus of a Yod pattern, “the finger of God”. The two legs in the YOD are Neptune in the 8th house and Pluto in the 6th. Each planet involved in the Yod is retrograde, with the exception of the Sun and Moon. This indicates an internal hurdle to be overcome. Neptune and Pluto suggest a supporting relationship that shifts daily tasks or work in connection to what you share with others, especially finances.

The square between retrograde Mars in the 6th house and Uranus in the 10th house is a powerful source of energy. This could signal a time for change within how you approach work or your work environment.

Lastly with the north node always pointing us in the direction of our future in the 12th house, perhaps it’s time that we dust off some of our old ideas we once buried and give them life or take some time to rest.

Remember the gift of Leo, and that is leisure; lions only hunt when they need to. They apply their energy only when needed; otherwise they save their energy and REST. So set your new Moon intentions but remember self-care is important as well.

Tara's Lunar Eclipse Forecast!

Lunar Eclipse / Full Moon

Here in the nation’s capital, we will experience the full Moon at approximately 4:20 pm, but no one in the USA will be able to see it. At the time of the eclipse, Sagittarius is on the horizon, making Jupiter ruler of this eclipse chart. The Sun will be at 4 Leo and the Moon will be at 4 Aquarius.

With the Ascendant and the Sun occupying fire signs, and the Sun and Moon in fixed signs this chart will bring more than its fair share of the summer heat as well as feelings of persistence or stubbornness associated with how the energy plays out. With the luminaries in masculine signs of elemental fire and air, there will be a need for people to project their ideas outward to share with others.

Oppositions require adjustment to handle the opposing energies. During the full Moon our emotions run high and often times our emotions spill over. Eclipses act like super charged full Moons presenting more of a kick than a regular full Moon.

At the time of this month’s full Moon, the planet Mars is conjunct the Moon in the air sign of Aquarius. With air signs, there is a tendency for cerebral thought provoking behavior. Aquarius in general is known for obscurity and unusual behavior. With Mars the planet of passions, anger, and desire in Aquarius it creates a dubious mix of the unknown meeting a need to share the information. 

When we look deeper into the chart and add in Mars retrograde, it’s easy to see why the partnership of the Moon and Mars could cause alarming and unusual behavior from people who struggle contain their emotions.

Speaking of Mars, he’s known as the lesser malefic in astrology as he causes a bit of disruption wherever he goes. The bully of the zodiac has been putting on a show for several weeks, and he adds a layer of depth to this lunar eclipse. Mars very much enjoys the rise of passions meeting action to further his agenda as our personal Special Forces team.

Mars is getting some assistance with his goals, semi-sextile Saturn in Capricorn and square Uranus in Taurus. The relationships that Mars shares with the outer planets of hard work and discord will indeed add a layer of tension to the overflowing of emotions available during the full Moon.

Here in the eastern US, the eclipse will occur across the 2nd and 8th house axis. With the Moon, Mars and south node conjunction in the 2nd house, it focuses our emotions on our personal environment and security, our pleasures, and our personal possessions. The presence of the south node here suggests there is something to be released.

With the north node and the Sun in the 8th house of sex, death, taxes and shared resources, this full Moon is going to ask us what we need to be successful. This is a time for an honest assessment of our lives and how our personal behavior is affecting our ability to connect with others both financially as well as intimately.

This full Moon also creates a pattern known as a T-square. The planet Uranus is square to both the Sun and the Moon, creating the pattern. A T-square looks like a 3-legged table. As you know 3 legged tables aren’t stable; neither are T-squares.

In astrology we look to where the 4th leg of the table should be in order to see how to stabilize the situation; in this case, we’re talking about the fixed sign of Scorpio in the 12th house of what we hide or prefer to not deal with.

Scorpio is a water sign, and although very deep, handling issues with finesse is not the scorpion’s forte. If we’re brave enough to look for it, we could find what we have been hiding from ourselves and prevents us from moving forward. In short, this lunar eclipse provides the opportunity to release what no longer serves our highest good.

One other contributing factor in this eclipse chart is the Venus-Pluto trine. It can bring about passionate attachments, which cause us to wrestle with our self-control, our need to remain attached to what we enjoy, and transform into something far suited to our personal growth. It calls us to be a part of the collective consciousness and to be compassionate both with ourselves as well as with others. Fortunately, we are still experiencing the thought provoking depths of the Jupiter and Neptune trine as well.

This intense water trine produces a lot of creative energy that supports artistic endeavors of all kinds. Perhaps this art is part of the releasing? Draw, paint, sculpt, or write what’s inside your heart and unleash the magic within.

Tara's New Moon in Gemini Forecast!

Welcome back for another discussion on our bi-monthly lunations. As we have discussed in past posts, the New Moon is a lunar rebirth and symbolizes new beginnings.

At the time that the moon perfects (completes) its conjunction (union) with the Sun, Libra will be moving across the eastern horizon. With Libra rising, Venus rules the chart, giving a measure of beauty or smoothness to the outer appearance. However, there is far more beneath the surface to this New Moon.

Chart ruler Venus will be conjunct the MC (Midheaven), so your outer life could seem fantastic. You could be finally doing what you love and have found your calling within your career. However, with Venus at the last degree of Cancer, also known as a critical or anaretic degree, this indicates the comfort we feel may not last very long. Critical degrees are between 29 and zero degrees, when a planet is about to enter into a new sign. The new sign changes the expression of energy and alters how the planet was expressing itself.

Venus in Cancer is nurturing and emotional. If you’ve noticed a shakeup in your relationships these last few days, there is a good reason why: Venus squares Uranus, the planet of revolution. Uranus just moved into Taurus after spending 7 years in Aries. Taurus represents the things we find comfort in, and the traditions we have grown accustomed to. At the time of the New Moon, the relationship between Venus and Uranus suggests the need for adjustment between energies.

Also, Uranus will be in the 7th house of relationships and Venus will be in the 10th house of career. We need to balance what we desire with our outer lives and the changes we are facing with our interpersonal relationships with others. The presence of Uranus here suggests that some of these changes could be both surprising and upsetting.

Mercury rules the sign Gemini, and Gemini is the sign the New Moon lunation occurs in. Mercury is in the 9th house of the higher mind and abstract thinking, but in the sign of Cancer. Cancer makes Mercury very thoughtful, reflective, and emotional. Mercury is sextile Uranus and semi-sextile Venus at the time of the New Moon. Sextiles and semi-sextiles denote the planets are working together. With emotional Mercury in the house of higher thought working with the planet of love and revolution in the 10th and 7th houses; we can be sure that there will be aspects to the changes which will make an emotional impact on us to which we will most likely have an emotionally charged response.

Mercury is also inconjunct Mars in Aquarius in the 4th house of home and family. Mars is Aquarius screams independence, freedom and even rebellion. An inconjunction requires adjustments to avoid unfavorable outcomes. With emotional Mercury clashing with Mars, changes made in our environment or our interpersonal relationships could be met with an emotional response. Be prepared for the people in your lives to disagree with the direction you’re due to their own desires and needs.

The 8th house is the heaviest house in the chart and the Sun and Moon reside there. The 8th house’s focus is on what we need to let go, the merger of energy for a common goal, transformation, death and rebirth. Although the Sun and moon have no relationship to Mercury in this chart, they are still ruled by it because they are in Gemini. With Mercury in Cancer, the way we communicate could be much more emotional than usual, watering down normal Gemini banter with the potential for sarcasm or moodiness. Choose your words carefully.

Tara's Sagittarius Full Moon Forecast!

Greetings, Sky Watchers! Welcome back for another post from Astrology by Tara.

At the time of the full moon chart, Leo is the sign on the Ascendant here in the Nation’s capital, which gives the Sun rulership.

One of the first things to notice is that the Ascendant and the North Node are conjunct. The nodes are not fixed points like planets, but are more like path markers in our present lifetime towards a journey of self-evolution (North Node), which is often tied to our karmic past (south node). The Ascendant is how we present ourselves to the world, our wrapping, and the vibe we give people.

Stop and think about this for a moment: Who we are and the 

nodes--the gates of destiny--are meeting up for a few minutes on the day of the full moon! There is a lot of power surging and we would wise to take hold of what we can for a positive change.

Since the nodes are always directly opposed to one another, the North Node conjunct the Ascendant means the South Node is next to the descendant. With the North Node and the Ascendant opening up a gateway in the first house of self, the Moon’s focus is on the self and our health. Naturally ruled by Aries / Mars, it marches in to every situation with gusto. This is a strong relationship with the angles of the 1st and 7th houses, pitting “I” against “we” as well as “me” against anyone else. It’s a reminder that there is no “I” in “team”, but you’ll have to balance what you can accomplish on your own and what you can’t.

In Washington, DC, the 5th and 11th houses are in play, and the 5th house represents play and other forms of pleasure that we enjoy on a personal level. The 11th house represents fun in groups as well as group dynamics and teams. Gemini sun and Sagittarius moon bring out the masculine dynamic yet again. Also, the degrees of the lunation (8 degrees and 10 minutes) are mutually sextile to the nodal axis and the 1st / 7th house cusps, transferring energy among them.

The most active house in the chart the 6th house of health, job, and daily routine. All three malefics—Mars, Saturn, and Pluto—are together in Saturn-ruled signs of Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn makes us earn what we achieve, and with Saturn in the house of our health and daily tasks, we would be wise to slow down enough to pay attention to the small details. If we don’t, we might get a little more than we bargained for. The silver lining: Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in the 6th could lead to a breakthrough and something better.

One of the saving graces of this full moon is the grand trine in water. We have Venus in Cancer, Neptune in Pisces, and Jupiter in Scorpio. Venus and Neptune are in our psychic houses, the 8th and 12th. Water in and of itself is a conductor of our emotions and it represents the eternal womb of the God consciousness. Water naturally occupies the 4th, 8th and 12th houses in the natural zodiac so this can indicate some deep soul searching, psychic inclinations, or emotional blessings and rewards.

The wildcard for the next few weeks is the entry of Uranus into Taurus. Uranus is a very slow moving planet and he finally crossed the threshold of another sign, leaving Aries and entering Taurus. This situation creates a whole new dynamic, and change is on the forefront. Right about now, everyone should be having an “Aha!” moment. Opportunity is knocking, but are you prepared?

Welcome back, Sky Watchers, for this extremely intense full Moon in Scorpio!

The chart of this lunation has an ascendant at 21 Scorpio, giving rulership of the chart to both Mars (classical) and Pluto (modern). These malefics are conjunct in Capricorn in the 2nd house, and they are both sextile the Ascendant. This means that both Mars and Pluto will be feeding their energy to the “body” of energy expressed during this full moon lunation.

Jupiter is conjunct the ascendant, and he expands whatever he touches. Although Jupiter is a benefic, its sextile to the MMars-Pluto conjunction allows it to exaggerate the intensity felt by the malefics joining forces.

Saturn shares his sign with his junior allies, and he makes us earn our success, so he is placed well for financial and career advancement. Mars motivates us to passionate action, while Pluto totally transforms our lives. These three planets are not fooling around; they’ve got a lot of energy flowing in their direction, and the time is now.

Both the 2nd and 12th houses are important in this chart. The 2nd house is where are three malefics are, and it rules our security, movable possessions, personal finances, and material goals. This is the house of things we value. The Moon is in the 12th house rules our subconscious mind, our past life, the prisons we create for ourselves, our mental creativity, and our connection to the higher power and our release.

The Moon represents our emotions and our soul’s evolution. Although a water sign, Scorpio doesn’t do well with emotional processing and is in fall in Scorpio. The Moon struggles to deal with the brooding, intense Scorpio power. The 12th house is where we pack away everything that bothers us. Having the Scorpio moon here could mean that we are feeling very unsettled about our own emotions.

Neptune is in Pisces in the 4th house and he is trine the moon. This means that Neptune is sending energy back to its natural house of rulership, the 12th. In doing so it’s added a layer of illusion and delusion to those deep Scorpio waters. Make sure that you’re seeing what’s really there.

Full Moons are always times of heightened emotions; however, with the moon connecting to Neptunian energy while resting deep in the 12th house, it could prove challenging. The Moon also naturally rules the 4th house. With the moon receiving Neptunian energy from the 4th house, there could be a component of the emotional equation that has to do with our family ties.

The Sun is in the 6th house of day-to-day tasks, our health, and our jobs. The sun is trine Saturn in Capricorn, which could mean a boost for our career, especially since Saturn is in the 2nd house. It’s important for us to be mindful to apply caution with our coworkers as well; with so much emotion flying around it will be very easy for us to allow ourselves to become overly involved.

To survive this full moon, look to the Leo north node in the 9th house of higher learning, philosophy, traveling, and language. Leo represents fun, play, childlike wonder and joy. It’s okay to be a little bit selfish and plan something that brings you joy to counteract the intensity of any pent up emotions.

Welcome back for our second full blue Moon of 2018. A Blue Moon is unusual because it only happens once every 2.5 years; having two in less than two months is incredibly rare!

At the time of the full Moon, the sign of Taurus will be on the ascendant, and the Sun will be at 10 Aries while the Moon is at 10 Libra.

The chart has Taurus rising, so Venus rules the chart. The rising sign is the “face” of the chart, and also represents the natural defensive reaction. Taurus is a fixed earth sign that desires consistency, dependability, loyalty, comfort, and beauty. Taurus enjoys the finer things in life as well as the attention that goes along with it. When it doesn’t get what it wants, the bull digs in its heels and acting stubbornly.

Venus is in the 12th house with a house stellium of three other planets. With Venus in the twelfth house, in its dignity of Taurus, it speaks of having a big heart but being let down. You may feel unappreciated or not find the love you desire.

The 12th house is the heaviest in this chart, and as such, it is a central focus of this chart. The twelfth house represents what transforms our unconscious mind, and what we must release.

When we look at the full Moon, we see five planets involved in a T-square aspect. As astrologers, when we look at a T-square, we see three-quarters of a grand square. It’s much like a three-legged table—unstable and putting undue stress on one leg. The best way to stabilize it is to prop up the fourth corner. We do the same in astrology; while we can’t create stability where it doesn’t exist, we can pay attention to the energy where the fourth leg should be to help create balance.

For this particular T-square configuration, we have the Sun conjunct Mercury in the twelfth house opposing the Moon in the 6th house. The full Moon opposition squares the Mars-Saturn conjunction in the 9th house. 

All of the planets involved in the t-square are in cardinal signs occupying naturally mutable houses. Cardinal signs want to act and initiate change, but the mutable house prefers transition and change. This creates a power dynamic where the cardinal signs may not be able to function on all cylinders as they normally would. 

At the time of the full Moon, the fourth leg of the grand square is located in Cancer in the 3rd house. It turns the focus to our emotional well-being; Cancer, in particular, is the most emotional sign with attachments to family. The third house is tied to our siblings and cousins as well as our way of thinking. With the absence of planetary energy at this focal point, it could point us towards a weakness in our lives that may need some attention.

The Sun-Mercury conjunction in the 12th house calls our attention to our hiding spots. It’s possible that we need to sequester ourselves away for some long overdue rest. Or this could mean that we have been hesitant to express ourselves for fear of the reactions it may cause.

With the Moon in Libra, an air sign, we are emotionally tuned in to our thoughts and ideas. The Moon is in the 6th house of daily tasks and routine. With the Moon opposite the Sun in an air sign, this indicates a need for balance. You could be having thoughts of productivity and new ideas for stimulation, but with Mercury and the Sun in the 12th house, you may be hesitant to share your ideas at the moment.

Teeing off the square is the malefic conjunction in the ninth house. With Mars and Saturn working together in Capricorn, our passions and our boundaries are going to be rigid and directed toward goal accomplishment. With the malefics sitting in a mutable house of expansion, they may not operate to their full capacity. When you compound all of this with the Mercury retrograde, there is a higher probability of misunderstandings.

As always, full Moons require adjustment and self-awareness. This Blue Moon is no different. With a cardinal T-square occupying mutable houses and Mercury retrograde, be prepared for our desired outcomes to change quickly. The keywords to this full Moon are adaptability and emotional self-control.

Today we will be discussing the Pisces New Moon. The new Moon is when the Sun and Moon meet by the exact degree of a sign. It’s the only time during a lunar cycle when they the same degree of the same sign. 

When we discuss the age of a planet or satellite, we always speak in terms of solar contact symbolizing a rebirth. Metaphysically, it’s the time of the month in a moon cycle in which we focus on new projects and ideas that we desire to grow.

At the time of the New moon Taurus will be on the ascendant, which gives Venus rulership of the chart. Taurus rising encourages stability and comfort.

When you look at this New Moon chart the first thing one may notice is the shocking vacancy within houses one through six. The personal houses are untenanted by planets. This does NOT lessen their importance; however, it does add focus to the houses that are heavily occupied with planets.

In this new moon chart, the 12th house is the most populated house. The twelfth house is one of great misunderstanding and is often feared. It’s the house of our subconscious mind, the personal secrets we keep, our past life connections, our intuitions, artistic abilities, and where we convalesce and recover. 

Another way to look at is that the 12th house is right before sunrise, or the horizon of the ascendant, like the morning mist before daybreak; the Sun does not clearly shine on all things but casts shadows which causes us to pause and reflect. The same is with the twelfth house; it will ask us to pause and reflect on ourselves. It is where our souls connect with the ethereal waters of creation. It represents what our soul carried over before being born.

Pisces, the mutable water sign, is the natural ruler of the twelfth house, and is ruled by Jupiter (classical) or Neptune (modern). All water signs are feminine and represent our emotions. Pisces is known for being unclear, as the waters of Pisces obscure our ability to separate facts from reason.

The Sun. Moon, Venus, Mercury and Uranus all occupy the 12t house. The New Moon conjunction s taking place in Pisces, but the sign of Aries is intercepted—completely encased—within the twelfth house, holding the remaining three planets within it. 

Within the 12th house, the Moon and Sun bathe together in the metaphysical waters of Pisces and united in wanting to connect. Together their energy drives the house, receiving abundant energy from their trine with Jupiter in the 7th house of relationships. This connection could mean that we suddenly want to share our feelings with others.

The sign of Aries represents the self and it expresses the motto “I Am”. Within the sign of self we have Venus (love) and Mercury (communication) conjunct and wanting to passionately speak their truth, yet they are blocked by the Aries interception. Intercepted signs create energy blocks, and planets in an intercepted sign may feel out of sorts or uncomfortable. This is like having to walk through a room until you find the right doorway.

In this case, Mercury, planet of communication, is paired up with Venus, the planet of love, but can’t find his way out to express what he truly wants to say. This could lead to misunderstandings because we aren’t communicating effectively. The Mercury retrograde storm— the storm is Mercury slowing down before going retrograde—only exaggerates miscommunication. 

When we throw Mars, planet of war, trining Uranus, the planet of abrupt change and revolution, into the situation,  we’re much more likely to explode if we aren’t mindful of our approach toward the situation and the people involved.

Be mindful that there is a lot of passion behind our words and they may not be understood in the manner you had hoped.

This month, we will get to see another blue Moon—the second full Moon in one calendar month.

The Moon will be at 11 Virgo in the 12th house, and the Sun will be at 11 Pisces in the 6th house. At the time of the Full Moon, Libra is rising, which makes the planet Venus the chart ruler. She adds a sense of balance, beauty, and kindness to this full Moon.

One of the first things to point out is that the signs Virgo and Pisces are occupying each other’s natural houses. Virgo is the natural ruler of the 6th house and occupies the 12th in this chart, while the natural ruler of the 12th house, Pisces, is located in the 6th house.

With four planets in Pisces in the 6th house—the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Neptune—it’s got the most activity of any chart location. The 6th house rules our daily tasks, our jobs, our routines, service to others, and our health. With a heavy 6th house, part of the full Moon focus is on 6th house matters.

The moon in Virgo, is a very analytical placement for the Moon, often referred to as the mother-in law-Moon due to its nagging nature. When the Moon is in Virgo, the emotional self is often very dissatisfied and overly attentive to the finest detail and losing the big picture in the process. With the Moon in the 12th house during this lunation, it can cause the mind to over analyze things that must be felt and not necessarily mentally processed.

The Sun and Neptune are conjunct in the 6th house and both oppose the Moon in the 12th house. Neptune rules Pisces and exchanges his energy with both the Sun and Moon. Neptune adds an emotional and spiritual component to this full Moon, affecting how we view others and ourselves.

Chart ruler Venus and Mercury are also conjunct in the 6th house. Venus is exalted in Pisces and Mercury is accidentally dignified by house, creating a powerful unit. All of these planets in Pisces add a dreamlike quality to how the planets express their energy. This could mean that we are doing a lot for others and ourselves with the highest good intended. Unfortunately, with such a heavy emphasis on self-sacrifice and service to others, it’s easy to overdo and overextend. Everything sounds grand, but realistically it can take a toll on you.

Venus and Mercury are aspecting to two other key planets, namely Jupiter and Mars. During the Full Moon Mars will be square the Venus/Mercury Conjunction in Sagittarius. Although this square is wide, the tension between Mars and two of our personal planets highlights the need to exhibit care in our daily lives. With Venus square Mars there is a thin line between love and hate.

With Mercury squaring Mars, one must remember words cannot be taken back once spoken. It’s best to err on the side of caution and think things through before acting or speaking about anything that makes us angry. This is especially true since Mars is also aspected to Uranus in Aries in the 7th house; it’s possible that our behavior could impact our interpersonal relationships.

Lastly we have Jupiter in the 2nd house in Scorpio. Jupiter is trine the Mercury /Venus conjunction. Jupiter is the ancient ruler of Pisces, and Venus is the natural ruler of the 2nd house. In this case this two benefics are exchanging energy; however, their placement in the 2nd and 6th houses ask us to pause before acting. Jupiter expands everything and Venus indulges. The 2nd house is about moveable possessions, our finances, and our comforts. Mixed with the 6th house matters of daily routines and health, it’s easy to see where the presence of Venus and Jupiter in both houses and in water signs could encourage “retail therapy”. With Jupiter trine Mercury, there is also a danger of overpromising and not delivering. Remember that you are only as good as your word.

The big message behind this month’s full moon is service over self-sacrifice: Where do you draw the line? Remember that it’s essential to find a balance in your life between caring for others and yourself. Also, don’t allow yourself to dilute what you’re capable of doing.

The Sun and Moon will be at 27 Aquarius, which is conjunct the point of the south node during the Eclipse sets of August 2017. Solar eclipses represent the beginnings of new cycles, and during this solar eclipse we are essentially on the flip side of last August’s eclipses.

All of these astronomical, astrological, and religious celebrations are tied to the Sun and its movement. The Sun represents where we are physically in calendar time, and astrologically the Sun represents who we are on a spiritual level. This is why astrologers always compare the natal chart with current planetary movements known as transits. We are a combination of our natal imprint (birth chart) and our own evolution (transits).

When the solar eclipse is exact, Mercury, Venus and Neptune in the 8th house join the Sun and Moon. Having the planets of self (Sun), soul (Moon), communication (Mercury), love (Venus) and the higher mind (Neptune) all in the 8th house reveals a lot. The 8th house represents deep motivations; transformations; release; temptations; spirituality; shared matters; financial matters; sex; death; and support we receive from others. With four personal planets in this house, it’s easy to see that this is where the focus is: A deep self-quest.

Now is the time to make some uncomfortable choices, whether you want to or not, to maintain your ability to grow into the person you are destined to become. With the north node in the 1st house, you must make yourself a priority now.

Neptune in the 8th house says that there is a possibility for you to not be entirely real with yourself; you may dilute the reality of the situation in order to save yourself from personal pain. Ask yourself, would you rather rip off the Band-Aid quickly or torture yourself? That’s what’s being asked of you now. What do you need to do to effect the greatest change on your personal life and spiritual, financial, and sexual interactions with others? It may seem difficult to disentangle yourself, but difficult situations call for inner strength. This solar eclipse is saying the time is NOW.

With Aquarius on the cusp of the 8th house, Saturn rules the house by classical traditions and Uranus by modern traditions. Aquarius is the sign of large groups, friendships, science and causes. Aquarius does not conform to anyone’s standards.

With Saturn in Capricorn in the 6th house of health and daily tasks, and Uranus on the MC in the 10t house, this says to me that much of this transformation can involve : your health, your daily tasks , your social groups or your career / job; the areas of your life where you share time and space with nonfamily members.

This solar eclipse energy should carry us through late July when the next lunar eclipse occurs. Change is definitely on the horizon, my friends, so check your natal charts and look for your transits. If any of your natal planets are close to the nodes or the moon or sun during this solar eclipse you may experience more change that you were expecting.

Welcome back for another eclipse discussion. I discussed the super blue Moon lunar eclipse on January 31st in my last article. Today we will be focusing on the solar eclipse of the New Aquarius Moon on February 15th. Eclipses come in sets: lunar and solar, and usually within two weeks from each other.

Lunar eclipses occur during full Moons when the earth‘s shadow is cast on the Moon, and they represent our hidden selves and our emotions. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon crosses between the earth and Sun, at an exact angle creating darkness that covers the Sun. Solar eclipses represent our vitality and new energy being offered for changes to come.

It’s no coincidence that our ancestors and many people today celebrate religious rites around the time around February 1st / 2nd, as we are a quarter of the way through the cycle of light. The Winter Solstice marks the darkest day of the year, The Summer Solstice offers us the most light, and both the spring and fall equinoxes represent the balance between darkness and light.

Eclipses are very rare events. Our ancestor’s treated eclipses as portents of great change and they used astrology to help them navigate through the changing energy.

When the solar eclipse is at its zenith, the zodiac sign of Leo will be on the ascendant of the eclipse chart. Leo is the sign of the Sun and ruling the chart of this Eclipse, adding more power to the Sun in this instance.

As astrologers, we also look at the placement of the planets and angles to calculate the dominate element and modality of the chart. This is called the charts signature and sub-signature. Both the signature and sub-signatures of the eclipse chart are fixed Fire, which is Leo. Again the emphasis is on the sign Leo and the Sun.

With Leo on the ascendant, and the north node in the first house of Leo, this highlights our direction forward. The Moon’s north node is where we find our soul’s path and with the north node in the first house we are being asked to focus on ourselves and find our inner truth. The Moon’s south node is the other half of the nodal axis, and it represents what we have already done and what we can release. The south node is in the seventh house of personal relationships. Almost immediately we can see what this solar eclipse energy is offering us: More of self and less from others.

Lunar Blue Moon Eclipse

One other important note: All the cardinal points of the chart are now in mutable signs. Pisces is on the 1st, Gemini is on the 4th, Virgo is on the 7th, and Sagittarius is on the 10th. "Mutable signs are where the magic happens” is a common astrological axiom; the flexibility of mutable signs allows for us to select and choose what works best for us. 

This Super Blue Moon Eclipse is giving us the opportunity to look deep within (Sun in our 12th house), clear out the cobwebs, and create a daily routine which can restore balance to our lives. Essentially this Full Moon is like hitting the re-set button. So it’s time to ask yourself, what will you change, what cob webs and built up non-essentials will you finally rid yourself of, and what daily \practive will you do to establish a healthy , vibrant and well balanced life.

Another aspect of this eclipse, along with its trigger of last August's eclipse set, is that with the nodes at 14 Leo/ Aquarius essentially the nodes are conjunct what astrologers consider points of fame. These occur at 15 degrees of the fixed signs. They indicates the natural placement of the solstices and equinoxes both in our current calendar. Seasonal midpoints are points of fame, or what can be called anchors. At the dead center of a fixed point it carries strength to it. And more importantly it remains focused on what it desires. 

If you add the points of fame conjunct the nodal axis of this eclipse, it's very easy to see why this is being so intensely felt. 

Essentially, this eclipse feels like you're taking a direct hit. But look closely at your natal chart between 11 to 14 degrees of Leo and Aquarius and see if this is being felt in a personal way or just part of the collective consciousness.
