I is for Isis

Hello everyone! Today's post is about Isis, an Egyptian mother goddess beloved by many Witches.

Egyptians worshipped Isis as the ideal mother and wife to her consort, Osiris, as well as a goddess of nature and magick. She used her magickal abilities to restore Osiris to life after he was murdered, and was a patron goddess of children and the downtrodden.

Isis' son Horus is also a beloved figure in the Egyptian pantheon, and it is said that early Christianity took images of Isis suckling Horus to model art involving Mary and the baby Jesus.

Isis is a wonderful goddess to work with if you're in need of protection, or if your maternal instincts or compassion need a boost. She'll help you see a situation from someone else's point of view, and make you more sensitive to the suffering of those less fortunate than yourself.

Thanks for tuning in for my "I" post! Come back tomorrow for "J".
